Hiking in Seeley's Bay

Picture
There are a number of back roads that are perfect for hiking or running in Seeley’s Bay.  Three that stand out are:

The 3km loop from the village to Haskin’s Point.  Need a break in between there is a lovely seating area overlooking the water at the point and if it is really hot – take a refreshing dip in Cranberry Lake and then head back towards the village for a snack at one of the local businesses.
Up for a bit more adventure?  Try the 12km loop from the village out Simpson Road and turn right onto Back Street.  This route will take you through farm area and a canopy of trees.  In the spring you can spot wild trilliums along the roadside.

Don’t miss beautiful Rock Dunder.  Rock Dunder is a 3.7 kilometer moderately trafficked loop trail located near Leeds, Ontario, Canada that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is best used from May until November. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.  This trail is closed until May 15th EVERY YEAR. Commencing in 2017, access will not be free. It will require either a “day pass” or a “season pass”.  You may purchase a Bronze Level Supporter Day Pass for $10 which covers all occupants arriving in the same vehicle. A soaring lookout over the Rideau Waterway, and a local landmark for generations. Well-marked trails through mature woodlands, following shorelines and finally climbing to the rocky summit. Part of the Rideau Waterways Land Trust, trail development and maintenance by the Rideau Trail Association. This magnificent site was owned for generations by the Boy Scouts of Canada. In 2005 it was purchased by the Rideau Waterways Land Trust and is now available for hiking through their kindness.  (Source:  www.Alltrails.com and Rock Dunder Facebook Page).
